Business Rules Engine

There are many opportunities to use the Business Rules Engine [BRE].
Some examples of those opportunities are :

  • allocating mappers to configurations
  • manipulating data extracted from an instance
  • data saved in an instance cannot simply be extracted and re-injected as default values are written by Oracle EBS that must be removed before injection can occur. Many other examples exist also
  • when trying to inject extracted data into the same instance – it may be necessary to remove all instance level values
  • when setting up a new operating unit using either the standard configurations supplied or a sample operating unit from an existing instance – it may be required to have more [or less] transaction types [for example], business rules can be created to automate this process.

One of the first needs for the BRE was to simplify the manual steps that are needed after extracting configurations from an existing Oracle instance BEFORE they can be reused.
